Money Mic Drop ft. T-Pain

Turns out a lot of people get their financial information from TikTok (#FinTok). And wouldn't you know, there is a lot of bad money advice floating around out there. We saw an opportunity to help consumers tune out the money misinformation with the help of Grammy award-winner and deeply nerdy Mr. Tallahassee Pain.

This was a NerdWallet Brand Studio production - from concept dev, talent negotiations, writing lyrics, editing, animation and post. We intentionally kept the look and feel lo-fi and authentic to T-pain's channel, and crafted the lyrics to balance education (NerdWallet's house POV sourced from our expert Nerds) with entertainment (that was spicy enough to stir the pot a little, but didn't swing too far into mean-spirited trolling). And of course, leaving room for T-pain to make it his own.

Impact

These videos earned 4.2 million+ views and over 125,000 impressions - people were Here For It. We also came away with actionable media strategy learnings for future brand action work, which we put into practice in our next brand act: Inflashion.
